Meet The Plant Clary sage - skin health

Last week we talked about Clary sage being known as an aromatic and as a women's herb. This vibrant lilac colored flowering plant can be found between May and September in the northern Mediterranean Basin, along with some areas in North Africa and Central Asia. This beautiful plant has been proven to have tremendous anti-inflammatory benefits for the skin. Clary sage has a compound known as Linalyl acetate, which is a naturally occurring phytochemical found in many flowers and spice plants. This compound is known to reduce skin inflammation.

Skin care products are using Clary sage to stimulate the skin, regenerate skin, and for the reduction of wrinkles. The Clary sage essential oil will help balance and regulate the production of natural oil in the skin, creating a naturally youthful look. When using essential oils on the skin it is recommended that a carrier oil, like almond or jojoba, be used for maximum absorption and skin safety. Essential oils can be very strong when put directly on the skin. Always consult your skin specialist before trying something new.

Clary sage has a long history of being a medicinal plant. Many herbalists and natural health care providers consider Clary sage to be one of the top essential oils for supporting women's hormones. Many women have claimed to experience benefits related to menstrual cramping, heavy menstrual cycles, and hot flashes when using Clary sage.

Here are a few ways that you can benefit with using a few drops of Clary sage essential oil:

  • Inhale the smell of the oil with a deep breath to help with depression, moodiness, and even hot flashes.
  • Add a few drops to a carrier oil along with lavender essential oil to create a tummy rub for PMS symptoms.
  • Can be mixed with a carrier oil and placed under the arms to assist with excessive perspiration.

Purequosa Rain uses Clary sage essential oil in their proprietary blend. It is refreshing for the skin, helps with inflammation, and is a nice aromatic mood lifter when feeling fatigued.
